Promoting a business through social media is pretty much the norm these days.  We see company’s big and small use social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, blogs and most recently Pinterest to raise awareness of their products and services globally. They also use these relevant channels to engage with existing and potential new customers. But what about social media for B2B?

This is a completely different ball game. These businesses aren’t trying to convert their followers and fans in to new customers. They are trying to convince other businesses to buy their products or use their services. Which means social media’s powers to spread a widespread message to millions of people becomes completely irrelevant.

However this doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for social media in the B2B world. We are now beginning to see a lot of company’s use social media to generate leads, build relationships with vendors and suppliers, and conduct market research. Social Media is also a great way for a business to position itself as a thought leader in its industry.
